Wayanad Landslide: Government Issues Guidelines on Employee Salary Contributions

The government has issued guidelines for disbursing not less than five day’s salary of government employees to the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund to help the victims of the Wayanad landslide disaster. This action aims to support the vigorous reconstruction efforts in the affected area. The order is applicable to employees of government departments, public sector units, boards, universities, aided institutions, local bodies, grant-in-aid institutions, commissions and tribunals.

Government employees are encouraged to make voluntary financial contributions, with a minimum of five days' salary expected. Contributors may pay their five-day salary in three installments. Those who wish to contribute more can do so in 10 installments, with a minimum of two days' salary per month. The contribution amount will be deducted from the August salary, which is due in September. These donations will be used for the rehabilitation of the affected individuals and infrastructure development. Donations can be made through the treasury or bank, or via the online portal.

A transparent report on the utilization of donations will be made available to the public, allowing contributors to see how their contributions have been used. The collected funds will be allocated for the rehabilitation and infrastructure development of disaster victims. The cooperation of government employees will greatly enhance the relief efforts.
