Government Approves Revised Model Operating Procedures for Nirbhaya Homes

The government has issued an order approving the revised Model Operating Procedures (MOPs) to make the functioning of State Nirbhaya Homes under the Women and Child Development Department more efficient and secure. The revised procedures aim to ensure uniform standards in the day-to-day operations of Nirbhaya Homes, which provide protection and rehabilitation to women and children who are victims of violence and exploitation.

The order seeks to ensure appropriate quality standards in areas such as security, accommodation, food, and medical care provided to residents at every stage. By implementing the revised procedures, the government aims to ensure that uniform and high-quality services are available across all Nirbhaya Homes in the state.

The revised MOPs are expected to expedite the psychological and social recovery and rehabilitation of survivors of violence. They provide clear guidelines to concerned officials to ensure timely access to legal aid, counselling, and vocational training for residents. Enhanced transparency in the functioning of government-run homes is also expected to strengthen the trust of beneficiaries and the general public in the system.
